A Day at the Nature Center Amy stared sadly out of the bus window.It was her first trip as a student of her new school.When her parents sold their farm and moved to town，Amy had been enthusiastic.But at her new school，she felt extremely shy around so many strangers.Worse still，she missed all her animals on the farm.
With a sign，Amy returned to the present.The bus stopped，and Amy climbed off with the rest of her classmates. "Welcome to the Nature Center，" her teacher，Mrs Brown，announced. "Shortly，a guide will give us a presentation about the area's native animals and habitat.Afterwards，you'll be given a worksheet to complete while you explore the rest of the center.Now，everyone，find a partner."
Amy looked worried.She didn't have any friends yet…She hesitated for a moment and then approached Janet，an outgoing and confident girl who sat near her in class. "Could I be your partner？" Amy asked carefully.
"Sure，" said Janet warmly， "I'll get the worksheet."
After listening to the presentation，the girls examined their worksheets. "It says we must help feed the body squirrel （松鼠）.How big is a baby squirrel？Can we hold one？" said Janet excitedly，not waiting to hear Amy's response.
When Amy and Janet walked into the squirrel area，they were greeted by an enthusiastic voice. "Hi，I am John Smith，the keeper here.Did you come to see the squirrels？"
"Yes，" said Amy with an eager smile on her face. "Do we actually get to feed the babies？"
"Sure，" John answered and then showed the girls how to wrap a baby squirrel in a tower and hold the bottle of warm milk.Amy settled back into a chair，enjoying the warmth of the tiny animal in her hand.She flashed a smile over at Janet，who was suddenly silent and focusing on her own baby squirrel.As a city-girl completely inexperienced in the handling of animals，Janet was feeling nervous.Then John asked， "Would you like to feed the adult squirrels？" Amy volunteered immediately.

Hearing the words，the seller smiled， "Girl，do you really think so？I only gave you a bowl of noodles and you thanked me a lot.But it is your mother who has raised you since you were a baby.Can you number the times she cooked for you？Have you expressed your gratitude to her？"
Jenny sat there，speechless and numb with shock？she remembered Mother's familiar face and weathered hands. "Why did I not think of that？A bowl of noodles from a stranger made me feel indebted，but I have never thanked my mum for what she has done for me."
On the way home，Jenny made up her mind to make an apology to her mother for her rudeness as soon as she arrived home.
