"To help or not to help",that is a question, especially if you have to face the results of your kindness. That is,what would you do if you found someone in trouble and needing help? Our readers share their thoughts and stories.
Wilson (UK)
It's true that people in the West like to help strangers more often than not,but to say that they would never stand and watch is going too far.One accident happened in NY where a woman being attacked cried for help, but people just watched from their apartment windows, and nobody called the police. The unlucky problem of being cold to strangers in danger is common in other Asian countries as well.I agree that China needs a good Samaritan (樂善好施) law.
Alex (Germany)
You're driving your car and see an accident where people are inside the car needing help.If you don't stop and instead just leave,it's a crime (犯罪) for you. It's the same situation where people are injured and lying unconscious (失去知覺的) on the ground,it's a crime if you just stand around, not helping while the person could die.In fact,in Germany you have to take a first aid course before you can get a driving license. It means that most people,at least those with a license, should know first aid.
Fenix (US)
Of course you help.My son helped an old man who was lost and walking around the streets. He had Alzheimer's (老年癡呆癥) and didn't know where he lived. My son was surprised that people weren't helping. He was asking other people for help or directions and not many wanted to help.Thank goodness,he found the man's home, and the old man's daughter thanked him very much.
